SCOTT WEILAND: First Video Blog From The Road Posted Online
January 20, 2009STONE TEMPLE PILOTS/ex-VELVET REVOLVER singer Scott Weiland has posted the first in a series of video blogs from his current solo tour. Watch the one-minute clip below.
The song "Hyper-Fuzz-Funny-Car" from Scott Weiland's new solo album, "Happy"In Galoshes", will be featured on the January 21 episode of "CSI: NY". Check your local listings for time and channel information.
"CSI: NY" (Crime Scene Investigation: New York) is an American police procedural television series which premiered on September 22, 2004. The series was the second spin-off, indirectly, from the popular CBS show "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation", and directly from "CSI: Miami", during an episode of which several of the "CSI: NY" characters made their first appearance. The show airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
Scott Weiland's business partner and touring guitarist Doug Grean recently posted an update online in which he asked fans coming to see Weiland on his current solo tour to stop calling out for STONE TEMPLE PILOTS songs during the show. Grean wrote, "People having been yelling for us to play STP songs at every show and this is understandable. But you guys have to understand a few things. To begin with, there is another band called STP that is actually out there touring ... Also, Scott wants to play his solo stuff, that's what this 'solo' touring stuff is all about. He wants to establish an identity for himself that's separate from STP and (VELVET REVOLVER). So if you buy a ticket to a Scott Weiland solo tour concert, you should be prepared to hear mostly Scott Weiland solo songs."
Grean added, "What I guess I'm asking you for is to be patient and understanding and let Scott do what he wants to do for now. There will be plenty of time and chances for you to hear the STP boys rock the fuck out of their awesome catalog in the future."
Weiland's band does play a couple of STP songs live, with Grean writing, "We all love STP (me and the solo band). And we love playing their great songs."
Grean co-produced Weiland's second solo album, "Happy in Galoshes", which came out in late November through the duo's Softdrive Records label.
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS completed a six-month reunion tour late last year and also played in Los Angeles on New Year's Eve, although the band's future status is currently unclear.
